hmmm okie let's resume.
oh i just remembered we went 'trekking' in an oil palm plantation ... (which is actually surrounding my camp). went in once in the afternoon... and another time at night, which was obviously more challenging. climbed up and down in the dark with 50 people sharing ... maybe 3 to 4 torch lights... (i don't mean climbing up and down the palm trees btw. hehehe)
it's kinda exciting walking right infront of the line... was with a friend, who was reading the compass. i think i know how to read one now. haha but almost tore my 'butt muscle' while attempting to climb up this steep portion .... and almost got more hands pierced by the torny palm leaves... hmmmm. luckily it's only ALMOST =)
~hai. now that i'm back at home, i find myself thinking bout what's happening in camp. it's not the place which i miss - think dirty stinky toilet, horrible bed with unknown things biting me, room with lizards and lizard shit, dirt and dust everywhere, occasional visit from some animal (bird? monkey? squirrel? mouse?), lots and lots of small ants big ants, and those horrible flying insects whenever it rains.. yucks.. and the next morning u find all these insects dead, clogging up the sinks or scattered all over the floor. Eewwww. plus i find it really really hard to have my afternoon nap when houseflies and mosquitoes are flying everywhere in the hot, stuffy room. Boo.
i'm amazed i have actually spent 50 over days there. and i'm proud of being able to wash my own clothes, help to empty rubbish bags, wash the toilet... .... ... things which i had never done back home. it's a good experience really. this army thingy sort of reminded me of the days in San Jaroen. conditions in camp are not as bad compared to the village, but both experiences are indeed tests for our mental strength. i think i pass =)
and this reminded me, there was one night when a spot check was conducted. teachers combed our lockers and bags for hps, discmans, cigarettes etc. the funny thing was that some teachers consfiscated items like FORKS and HAIRDRYER... lol. anyway my room was lucky, nothing was taken (but 'banned' items were actually hidden somewhere) and guess what the teachers did. totally extreme man.
they emptied our big black rubbish bag outside the room and poured out the contents onto the floor!!!
the unfortunate thing was that some of the rubbish was like 1 to 2 weeks old??? it was 11 plus at night btw. and u can't expect us to sleep with the horrible smell. ewww. spent some time clearing the rubbish (using our hands wrapped in plastic bags) and scrubbing the floor with detergent. i swear i was pissed that night. horrible !!! =(
got to return back to msia on tuesday. i'm thinking how to break the news to my frens ... that i'm leaving army early. feel a tinge of guilt coz i have been telling people not to leave early... that we should all leave together on 10th june, and cry together once and for all. (for the past 1 week, there are people leaving everyday, and so we have been crying almost everyday.. geee. it's physically draining man!) part of me wants to come home, but the other part of me wants to stay all the way until the end. afterall i have already endured 50 over days. Ahhhhhhhh. =(
saying goodbye is always tough. what's more it's friends who i have known for almost 2 months, friends who didn't ostracise this Singapore orang who doesn't know Malay... friends who i eat, sleep, play, and bathe together everyday..... i'm reluctant to use the word 'train'. coz i dun remember us training......maybe only marching practices bah. i know from day one that there will be a day where all of us will go our separate ways, but ... deep down in your heart you still can't bear to part with your friends. so...... i think i will dread 26th may coz i will still come back on that day... *gulpz* i think i will come back on that day. i should come back on that day. or should i not? ahhhhhhhhh =(
life is like that lah, people come and go. which reminds me, i haven't got parizat in months. maybe i shall call her tonight? i'm too paiseh to call amanguli already lah. =(
